After a seven-year hiatus, Caribbean-born music duo Smooth & Storm are making their return with their latest single, “ANYWHERE.” Originally from San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago, and now based in Phoenix and Las Vegas, the talented duo are bringing their signature sound, renewed energy, and years of experience back to the music scene.
Professionally active since 2013, Smooth & Storm have built an impressive résumé that includes performing on BET’s 106 & Park, receiving radio airplay and television exposure in Trinidad & Tobago, and earning two Georgia Music Award nominations.
Their latest release, “ANYWHERE,” holds special significance as the first song they professionally recorded following their extended break from music. The duo officially returned to the studio on March 28, 2024, marking a new chapter in their musical journey.
Inspired by legendary R&B group 112 and their collaboration with Lil Zane, “Anywhere,” the track pays homage to the smooth, seductive sounds of 90s R&B while incorporating the duo’s own creative style. Fans of Trey Songz may also recognize a subtle musical reference in Smooth’s opening verse.
Interestingly, Smooth recorded his first verse in just one take after seven years away from the studio. Storm’s opening line, “Ain’t no holding back let it go,” originated from an unplanned freestyle during a warmup session.
Beyond music, Smooth & Storm have expanded their entrepreneurial ambitions by establishing Caribbean Unity Records Entertainment (C.U.R.E.), their independent record label, and Francis Elliot LLC, their clothing brand.
The duo also celebrated their first professional magazine feature in Caribbean Elite Magazine for their debut single, “Wine & Go Down.”
With “ANYWHERE,” Smooth & Storm are proving that their passion for music never disappeared. Their comeback represents a fresh beginning fueled by experience, creativity, and determination.
