Aside from being one of the newest additions to the Carnival Cruise Line DJ roster and being the
first lady guest mixer on Tampa Bay’s 95.7 the Beat, DJ Tayy has taken the DJing scene by
storm since her humble beginnings! Not only has she spun at popular malls, such as Southland
Mall (Miami, FL), Florida Mall (Orlando, FL), Brandon Town Center (Brandon, FL) and
International Mall (Tampa, FL), Tayy has also spun at Fortune 500 companies and restaurants
such as Macy’s, Bahama Breeze, Bebe, PINK by Victoria Secret, PUMA and Old Navy.
Born in Queens, New York and raised in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, DJ Tayy learned to read,
write music and play several instruments at a very young age. At the age of 16, while attending
Miami Southridge Senior High School, Tayy picked up DJing as a hobby just mixing music for
friends at house parties and graduations. After she graduated Highschool, she moved to Tampa to
attend the University of South Florida where she purchased her first pair of turntables in order to
learn the art form of mixing and scratching. Tayy felt it was important to learn the root of djing
and that is exactly what she did. It was very difficult for her to be taken serious as a female DJ
while in college, but once she broke into the scene nothing could stop her from plummeting to
the top.
In 2015, Tayy linked up with the world famous Scratch Music Group where she now serves as a
Scratch Events DJ and in 2016 she was added to the Carnival Cruise Line DJ roster where she
was promoted to a Pro DJ. It is plain to see that DJ Tayy has quickly become one of central
Florida’s most sought-after record spinners.
SXSW Festival is upon us and this year marks another epic one in HipHop, notably the city of Atlanta becoming one of the industries biggest influences in the culture currently. Backwoods Cigars has also ridden the success wave of HipHops explosion into mainstream culture this year with major hiphop artists such as Young Dolph, Sonny Digital, Kevin Gates, Migos, and YNF Lucci have all become massive advocates of the Cigars with some refusing to even smoke anything but the highly popular cigar enjoying their recreational activities. This year the company has created a new program called Smoke House Social which will feature new upcoming artists across all genres from rock, hiphop, country, and EDM. Wadley, Georgia native hiphop artistPREZZ has paired with Smoke House Social to release his new eleven track project “Kuntry Shit”. Leading influential photographer Jordan Spencer (@Shotbyspencer) known for his incredible photos of Kevin Gates captured the original Backwoods theme feel for the tapes iconic Album cover accompanied with a series of photos displaying PREZZ handwritten lyrics across several of the photos. The tape holds production from some of Atlanta’s heavy weights Mondo,MexikoDro,Shawty Fresh, King Ceeo, ChopHouze, Chill Go Hard, and J Feddy adding Big Devto finish it off with mixing. With no features the newcomer holds his own giving off a powerful presents on each track with insane energy! Last year SxSW went crazy, highlighted by epic shows and and mansion parties filled with hip-hops most lit names and up and comers. These events were thrown by none other than Spratfool, a Jersey Native with a knack for curating the most lit events/ showcases nation wide. Sprat is back again this year bringing Legally Loud back for its 4th installment, and we can only expect a crazier experience than years past.
